In this activity, three MoU signings took place which were carried out jointly. This collaboration with the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy is a continuation of the collaboration that has been running so far initiated by the UP Faculty of Tourism, the signing of the MoU with the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy is related to collaboration which includes the Fields of Education, Research and Community Service as well as the Development of Tourism and the Creative Economy, which in its focus are on the exchange and utilization of data and information in the tourism and creative economy sector, implementing research support, education, and coordinating the preparation of rules/regulations and Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) provisions, increasing the capacity of human resources, developing tourism destinations and the creative economy and product development tours and organizers of activities (events).
With this collaboration, it will be able to involve all UP Academics, one of which is UP Lecturers who can become village judges, compile a national tourism index, conduct exchanges of lecturers and students, on this occasion also present the UP International Cooperation Law Institute, which can later assist in facilitating and carrying out a multidisciplinary approach with various faculties at UP to develop tourism in Indonesia.
Whereas the collaboration with Tadulako University is related to the fields of Education, Research, Community Service in order to succeed the Free Learning and Independent Campus Program (MBKM) which is being intensively carried out by all tertiary institutions, this signing was carried out directly by the Chancellor of UP, Prof. Edie Toet together with UNTAD Chancellor, Prof. Dr. Ir. Mahfudz, MP With this collaboration, it is hoped that there will be good synergy between universities for the advancement of education in Indonesia. In the context of implementing the MBKM Program, UP accepted 42 inbound students from 20 State and Private Universities from all over Indonesia to take part in the 2nd batch of Independent Student Exchange Program (PMM) in 2022, and one of them is a student from UNTAD who is currently taking part in the PMM for 6 months / 1 semester at the Faculty of Economics and Business UP.
In his remarks, UNTAD Chancellor Prof. Mahfudz said that the collaboration with UP would later be directed towards the field of civil engineering, which includes research on the geology of soils that experience liquefaction (Soil quefaction). Soil liquefaction is a phenomenon that occurs when the soil is saturated or slightly saturated, the soil loses strength and stiffness due to stress, for example earthquake vibrations or other sudden changes in tension, so that solid soil changes form into liquid or heavy water), for example such as disasters natural disaster that recently happened in Palu and its surroundings on September 28 2018, as a result of the earthquake many buildings were badly damaged, UNTAD was one of the many campuses that were affected by the earthquake, so by carrying out this collaboration later UP and UNTAD can jointly develop earthquake-resistant building structures by involving lecturers and practitioners from UP to design it, this topic is a sexy topic to be raised in international research related to earthquake-resistant building structures, and UNTAD itself has a seismic laboratory and study center seismicity, said Prof. Mahfudz in his speech.
