Prevention and Handling of Sexual Violence: Serious Commitment from the Ministry of Education and Culture

The Ministry of Education, Culture, Research and Technology (Kemdikbudristek) has taken progressive steps by issuing a Ministerial Regulation regulating the Prevention and Handling of Sexual Violence in Higher Education Environments, better known by the abbreviation PPKS Ministerial Regulation. This step shows the Ministry of Education and Culture's serious commitment to combating and overcoming the problem of sexual violence that occurs in higher education environments in Indonesia.

This PPKS regulation focuses on preventing and handling sexual violence within the education unit. This includes various efforts, from introduction, education, to procedures for handling cases that occur. Through this regulation, it is hoped that the higher education environment in Indonesia can become a safe, inclusive and supportive place for all individuals regardless of gender or background.

In his speech, Head of LLDikti Region III, Prof. Toni Toharudin, S.Si, MSc say that "This collaboration that we have established will also support Key Performance Indicators (IKU) to improve the quality of education in tertiary institutions. The PPKS and IKU 6 Regulations are an important first step. However, strict implementation and monitoring will be the key to success in ensuring that the goals of preventing and handling sexual violence in the higher education environment are actually achieved.” Besides that, Prof. Dr. Edie Toet Hendratno, SH., M.Sc., FCBArb as Chancellor of Pancasila UniversityA in closing said, "In the long term, this effort will help create a more inclusive, safe and quality education for future generations, and respect the rights of every citizen, especially at Pancasila University, LLDikti Region III, and other campuses in DKI Jakarta to obtain education worthy“.
