Pancasila University, Empowering Communities Through Yogurt

Consuming foods that contain probiotics is often ignored by most people, even though foods or drinks that contain probiotics are very beneficial for maintaining digestive tract function. One of the health problems in the gastrointestinal tract that often occurs is diarrhea, diarrhea can occur in both children and adults. Diarrhea can occur in areas that are often affected by flooding due to increases in river water volume, such as residents of Jalan Peace, the Rawajati area of East Pejaten.

As an effort to improve welfare community, especially in the health sector, one of which is done by: provide education related to highly nutritious foods and various prevention disease. Apart from that, training that provides benefits to the community in the health sector also needs to be carried out. Through the Institute for Research and Community Service, Pancasila University (LPPM-UP) provides outreach and training on making yogurt. The aim of this activity is to provide training on making yogurt as a source of probiotics to increase public knowledge regarding nutritious food and improve the digestive health of residents in the area. RW 05 Rawajati. 

The main activity is in the form of socialization and direct practical training in making Yogurt as a food that contains high probiotics. This activity was attended by posyandu cadres from RW 05 Rawajati. The residents, who incidentally are MSMEs, were very enthusiastic about participating in this activity which took place at the RW 05 secretariat. Present as a resource person was the Head of the Research and Community Service Unit, Faculty of Pharmacy, Pancasila University, Dra. Umi Marwati, M.Sc. Activities are carried out by providing knowledge about yoghurt, how to make and store it, as well as conducting tutorials in front of residents.
