Bandung, August 10, 2024 – In order to commemorate the 15th National Forest Conservation Day, the West Java Natural Resources Conservation Agency, in collaboration with various conservation partners, has successfully released several Javan Gibbons (Hylobates moloch) in the Gunung Puntang area, Bandung. This activity is part of an ongoing effort to conserve endangered wildlife, while strengthening the forest ecosystem in West Java.
The Javan gibbon, a primate endemic to Java Island, is currently facing serious threats from habitat destruction and poaching. This release is a strategic step in a long-term conservation program to restore the Javan gibbon population to its natural habitat.

The release event was attended by local officials, researchers, and local communities. Pancasila University participated by sending three students from the Cipta Seria Alam Student Activity Unit (UKM) (CICERA) to be directly involved in the release process of the Javan Gibbon. This participation shows Pancasila University's full support for environmental conservation, in line with the university's ideals to maintain the balance of nature.
The Head of the West Java Natural Resources Conservation Agency emphasized the importance of synergy between the government, the community, and stakeholders in preserving forests and animals in Indonesia. "This release is not only a symbol of conservation efforts, but also a call for all of us to continue to protect and care for Indonesia's natural wealth," he said.

With the success of this release, it is hoped that the Javan Gibbon can adapt to its natural environment and contribute to the sustainability of the Mount Puntang forest ecosystem, which is one of the important areas for conservation in West Java.
