Seoul, South Korea – The delegation of the Faculty of Pharmacy, Pancasila University (FFUP) had the privilege to visit several leading health, pharmaceutical, and cosmetic industry facilities in South Korea as part of a series of pre-conference site visit events organized by the committee of the ederation of Asian Pharmaceutical Associations (FAPA) 2024. This activity was held with the aim of providing in-depth insight into the South Korean medical and pharmaceutical system which is renowned for its excellence and well-organized nature. The site visit included visits to service facilities in pharmacies, hospitals, pharmaceutical industries, and cosmetic industries in South Korea.
Visit to Amore Pacific Cosmetics Industry
Amore Pacific, one of the leading cosmetic companies in South Korea, was the destination visited by Dr. apt. Novi Yantih, M.Si; Dr. apt. Faizatun, M.Si.; apt. Shelly Taurhesia, PhD.; Dr. apt. Siti Umrah Noor, M.Si; Dr. apt. Faridah, M.Si.; Dr. apt. Rahmatul Qodriah, M.Farm as FFUP delegates. This visit provided valuable experience about technology and innovation in the beauty industry, especially in the manufacture of environmentally friendly and sustainable cosmetic products. Dr. apt. Novi Yantih, M.Si., as a representative of the delegation, conveyed her positive comments regarding this visit, “Amore Pacific has shown a high commitment to innovation and sustainability in the cosmetic industry. This experience has opened our insight into the development of safer and more efficient cosmetic products, as well as being relevant to global trends that increasingly pay attention to environmental aspects.”
Visit to Daewoong Pharmaceutical Industry
The FFUP delegation, including Dr. apt. Zuhelmi Aziz, M.Sc.; Dr. apt. Kartiningsih, M.Sc.; apt. Diah Kartika Pratami, M.Farm.; apt. Desi Nadya Aulena, M.Farm.; and apt. Safira Nafisa, M.Sc. visited Daewoong Osong Plant, one of the leading pharmaceutical companies in South Korea known for its research in the development of innovative drugs. During the visit, the delegates were introduced to advanced technology in the drug production process and the quality standards applied by Daewoong. Dr. apt. Zuhelmi Aziz, M.Sc., a representative of the FFUP delegation, gave a positive review of the visit, “Daewoong has proven its expertise in the pharmaceutical field with very high standards, both in research and production. This inspires us in Indonesia to continue to improve the quality and standards in the national pharmaceutical industry.”
Visit to Severance Hospital
In a series of site visit activities, the FFUP delegation Prof. Dr. apt. Yusi Anggriani, M.Kes; Prof. Dr. apt. Ni Made Dwi Sandhiutami, M.Kes.; apt. Hesty Utami Ramadaniati, M.Clin., Pharm., PhD.; Dr. Nurita Andayani, M.Si.; and apt. Fitri Nurhayati, M.Farm., visited Severance Hospital, one of the leading medical centers in South Korea. This visit provided an opportunity for the delegates to witness firsthand the latest medical technology and holistic patient care system implemented in the hospital. Prof. Dr. Yusi Anggriani, M.Kes. representative from FFUP, expressed appreciation for the facilities provided by Severance Hospital, “Severance Hospital has demonstrated an extraordinary standard of medical care with very sophisticated facilities and technology. This visit opened our eyes to how technology and health systems can be integrated to provide optimal patient care.”
These visits provided important insights into advanced medical technologies, innovative treatment methods, and superior pharmaceutical industry systems. It is hoped that the knowledge gained by the FFUP delegation from these visits can inspire the development of pharmaceutical and health service systems in Indonesia, in accordance with international standards that have been achieved by South Korea.
In addition, the Delegation from the Faculty of Pharmacy, Pancasila University (FFUP) brought honor to Indonesia in the Federation of Asian Pharmaceutical Associations (FAPA) Congress 2024 held in Seoul, South Korea, from October 28 to November 2, 2024. During the presentation, researchers from FFUP received high appreciation from the congress participants, especially for their contribution in research that is relevant to the pharmaceutical and health industry in Asia. Prof. Dr. apt. Ni Made Dwi Sandhi Utami, M.Kes., expressed her pride, “The FAPA Congress gives us the opportunity to share research innovations that can provide real benefits, especially in the discovery of marker compounds for DPP-4 inhibitors that have the potential to be further developed.”
Likewise, Dr. apt. Faizatun, M.Si., who presented research on the formulation and characterization of sunscreen based on red pomegranate peel extract, gave a positive review, “This event opens up opportunities for collaboration to develop products based on Indonesian natural ingredients that are able to compete in the global market.”
FAPA 2024 has become a valuable platform for FFUP delegates to showcase the excellence of pharmaceutical research from Indonesia and strengthen international collaboration in the development of science and technology in the pharmaceutical field.
