The Pancasila University Research and Community Service Institute (LPPM UP) carries out community service activities with the theme "Disaster Literacy and Family Medicinal Plants (TOGA)" located in Garogol Cibulakan Village, District. Cugenang, South Cianjur (15/03).
This activity was attended by Deputy Head of LPPM Gunawan Baharuddin, Ph.D and his staff, Riza Darma Putra MIKom as well as Dra. Umi Marwati, M.Sc. as speakers, representatives of Pancasila University students, and Head of the Garogol Cibulakan Village RT along with 40 residents.
In his speech, Gunawan said, "This disaster literacy and TOGA activity is one of a series of disaster responses from Pancasila University for villages affected by disasters. "After this activity, Pancasila University will also rebuild the clinic which was originally destroyed by the earthquake that hit Cianjur last time, as a real effort to support the recovery and preparedness of the local community."
In disaster literacy material, it is hoped that residents will understand preventive measures and initial actions when a disaster occurs, so that they can minimize the losses and impacts caused and increase the safety and preparedness of the community as a whole.
Then in the TOGA material, it is hoped that people will no longer just rely on the medicines that are sold, but can maximize the medicinal plants that exist around the community where they live to increase their independence in terms of health and reduce the negative impacts of excessive use of chemical medicines.
UP hopes that this activity can increase their understanding of how to deal with disasters and utilize the potential of medicinal plants around them for family health needs. In this way, it is hoped that people can become more independent in maintaining their own and their families' health and increase their resilience to various disaster risks.
