THE ROLE OF COUNSELING TEACHER AS A MOBILE OF LEARNING INDEPENDENCE

Chancellor of Pancasila University Prof. Wahono Sumaryono fully supports the 'Freedom to Learn' policy proclaimed by the Minister of Education and Culture Nadiem Makarim so that students can freely choose subject areas according to their wishes, abilities and interests.

"In this era full of turbulence and upheaval, the biggest danger is not making changes. Because of that, it is necessary to carry out educational transformation far into the future," Wahono said after opening the Seminar on Training to Improve the Counseling Guidance of Teachers' Competence for Vocational High Schools/High Schools throughout Jabodetabek, Cilegon and Sukabumi at Pancasila University, Jakarta, Tuesday.
For this reason, said Wahono, he is ready to respond to the transformation of the curriculum and educational patterns, so that there is no need for a lot of lessons in class. It is also necessary to practice in the laboratory and there is interaction with the outside world according to the study program.

According to Wahono, teachers need to know real world students who are more complex than campuses and when they graduate they are better prepared to compete in a positive sense and collaborate with various others.

"Developments in the real world are far more complex than what they learn in class, so we hope that the educational transformation pattern policy and curriculum are directed according to the demands of the times," he said.
The development of the world of information technology that utilizes the internet makes it easier for us to obtain information so that the learning process will be more efficient and it is hoped that an analytical, associative, and synthetic mindset is appropriate to the level.

"With the challenges of simple and complex problems, alternative solutions can be identified, based on reading literacy and being able to extract, write essay reviews, and describe simpler problems," he said.

Previously the Minister of Education and Culture Nadiem Makarim expressed his desire to give students the freedom to study according to their wishes, abilities and interests.

“Students study according to their own will and interests. We have to make these changes," Nadiem said while delivering a speech at the inauguration of the Chancellor of the University of Indonesia (UI) Prof Ari Kuncoro at the UI Depok Campus. Nadiem added that students should also be able to be independent in carrying out various activities outside of educational programs.

The ability of tertiary institutions in providing education to their students is very important in the effort to realize the President's vision of creating superior human resources. "There are two interpretations of the President's vision, namely independent learning and driving teachers," he said.

In an effort to realize learning independence at the lowest education level up to tertiary institutions, according to him, regulatory and bureaucratic improvements need to be made. “In the next five years, various educational institutions will certainly not be comfortable at all. But you have to make these changes," said Nadiem.
