Bogor, June 29, 2025 – Thousands of residents poured into Lembur Sawah Village, Mulyaharja Subdistrict, Bogor City in the context of the Sidekah Bumi cultural parade, a noble tradition that has been passed down from generation to generation since the 17th century. This tradition is a real manifestation of the Lembur Sawah community's gratitude to the Almighty Creator for the abundance of sustenance and fertile land that they have enjoyed for a whole year. A total of 18 dongdang containing the community's harvest in the form of rice, vegetables, fruits, processed foods, and community crafts, were paraded together around the village by all residents. This expresses togetherness and respect for nature that has given life. The joint prayer procession around the Singa Manggala historical site is a sacred moment that strengthens spiritual and traditional values, while emphasizing that gratitude is not only expressed, but also manifested in the form of cultural preservation, social solidarity, and concern for the environment.
The Faculty of Tourism of Pancasila University (FPAR UP) has been actively supporting the Sidekah Bumi activity by providing assistance since 2022. “Pancasila University’s involvement in this activity is part of our commitment to implementing the noble values of Pancasila and the vision of sustainable development. The Sidekah Bumi tradition is not just a cultural celebration, but a noble heritage that unites the community in bonds of social harmony, spiritual wealth, and ecological awareness. It reflects the values of mutual cooperation, gratitude, and deep concern for nature as a source of life. We intensively provide assistance to the Lembur Sawah Tourism Village through an agro-heritage tourism approach that combines cultural values, food security, and economic empowerment of residents. This assistance not only has a local impact, but has also received international recognition by winning the Cultural Preservation Winner award from the 2025 Asia Pacific Responsible Event Awards organized by APIEM,” said Azra Mashita, Coordinator of the Assistance Team from the Faculty of Tourism of Pancasila University.
Through this synergy, Pancasila University actualizes the Impact Campus program: building relationships between campuses and the community directly, participatively, and sustainably. This approach reflects the spirit of mutual cooperation, one of the main values in Pancasila, which is a pillar in every step of community service. This year's Sidekah Bumi tradition is also combined with the Lembur Snack Festival, where people can enjoy a variety of typical village cuisine with unique transactions using coconut shell coins. This activity not only strengthens local cultural identity, but also becomes a means of empowering the creative economy of residents and preserving the MSME ecosystem.
Bogor Mayor Dedie Rachim, who was also present, appreciated the activity. He thanked the residents of Lembur Sawah who still maintain their customs and culture. "Sidekah Bumi is part of Bogor's extraordinary tradition and must be preserved. We hope that residents can maintain it while also preserving nature, the environment, and cleanliness in their daily lives," said Dedie.
Through this cross-year mentoring, UP has proven its commitment to connecting academic activities with the social realities of society, strengthening graduate competencies, and creating a contextual and relevant learning ecosystem, while maintaining cultural and environmental dignity.
