Pancasila University in collaboration with the Directorate of Research, Technology, and Community Service, the Directorate General of Higher Education, Research, and Technology, and the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology, held a "Training on Writing Patent Application Descriptions Batch 2 of 2024" which took place from 19 to 21 August 2024 at the Harris Hotel Cibinong City Mall, Bogor.
The event was attended by the Rector of Pancasila University, Prof. Dr. Ir. Marsudi Wahyu Kisworo, IPU., Vice Rectors, Head of the Institute for Research and Community Service Irfan Ihsani, ST., M.Sc., and his team, as well as the Director of Research, Technology, and Community Service represented by Muhammad Husni Thamrin and his team. In addition, the training was also attended by speakers and facilitators and attended by 68 lecturers from all over Indonesia.
In his speech, Prof. Dr. Ir. Marsudi highlighted Indonesia's position in ASEAN related to the number of patents, "Indonesia is the largest country in ASEAN, but the number of our patents is still lower than several countries in ASEAN. This is a challenge for all of us to improve not only the quantity but also the quality of patents produced," he said.
Completing the statement, Muhammad Husni Thamrin emphasized the importance of changing the mindset in obtaining patents, "We can change our mindset related to obtaining this patent which is not only limited to fulfilling credit points, but in the future it is expected to produce patent outputs that are downstreamed and also commercialized," he explained.
During the three-day training, participants received various materials, including the Administration System, Requirements, and Procedures for Patent Applications delivered by Dr. Nanik Astuti Rahman, ST., MT. Then, Ria Dewi Andriani, S.Pt., M.Sc., MP, provided material on Patent Information Search to Determine Patentability of Inventions. Meanwhile, Ir. Ahdiar Romadhoni, MBA, delivered the Method of Writing Patent Specification Documents. This activity ended with a session on Writing, Refining, and Finalizing Patent Descriptions guided by the facilitators.
When closing the event, Irfan Ihsani expressed his hope, "Hopefully this useful knowledge can be disseminated to fellow lecturers at their respective universities so that we can together improve the quality and quantity of patents in Indonesia."
