In his welcoming speech, Acting UP Rector, Prof. Dr. Adnan Hamid, SH, MH, MM, said that graduation is not the end of the journey, but the beginning of community service. He reminded the importance of a lifelong learning spirit and an unyielding fighting spirit in facing increasingly complex global challenges. "Failure only happens when we give up," quoted Prof. Adnan from the 3rd President of the Republic of Indonesia BJ Habibie, while emphasizing that UP graduates must become pioneers in grounding the values of Pancasila in every aspect of life.

This graduation also serves as a reflective momentum for UP's achievements, which are now entering their 59th year. With the accreditation of an Excellent institution, UP is listed as the best private university in Jakarta according to UI GreenMetric 2024, and is ranked 14th nationally in the SINTA index, which measures the productivity and impact of scientific publications. UP students have also made brilliant achievements in various international events such as the World Science Environment Engineering Competition (WSEEC), the Thailand International Choral Festival, and the Jakarta International Science Fair.

Furthermore, Prof. Adnan highlighted the importance of ethics and morals as a compass in applying science. According to him, the noble values of Pancasila must continue to be a guideline in thinking, acting, and contributing to the nation. This graduation ceremony was also attended by the Head of the Indonesian POM Agency, Prof. Dr. Taruna Ikrar, M.Biomed, MD, Ph.D., who delivered a scientific oration and provided inspiration for graduates in making real contributions in the field of health and community protection.

In this proud momentum, the Head of YPPUP Advisory Board, Dr. (HC). Ir. Siswono Yudo Husodo, also delivered an inspiring message to the graduates as provisions for embarking on a new journey in life after campus. In his speech, Dr. Siswono emphasized the importance of work spirit, achievement motivation, and innovation for the graduates in facing the increasingly competitive world of work in the borderless world era. Competition does not only occur domestically, but also across national borders, which is marked by the increasing ease of cross-country workers and investors. With 9 million Indonesian workers abroad and 400,000 foreign workers in Indonesia, Dr. Siswono encouraged the graduates to expand their abilities, including mastering international languages such as Mandarin, Japanese, or Korean, in addition to English, as provisions for competing globally.

Dr. Siswono is optimistic that Indonesia has a bright future in the global economic constellation. In 2035, Indonesia is estimated to be ranked 8th or 9th as the world's largest economy, along with the shifting center of global economic activity to Asia. This change, according to him, opens up great opportunities for Indonesia's young generation to contribute to strategic sectors, especially manufacturing which will be the main source of economic growth. He also highlighted the importance of the role of the young generation in supporting the achievement of the vision of Indonesia Emas 2045, where Indonesia is projected to become a globally significant developed country.

He emphasized the importance of a spirit of continuous learning in line with the rapid development of the times. “Today you are graduating as a bachelor, ending your study period at UP. The world is changing rapidly, and you must not stop learning. Learning does not only happen in the lecture hall, but also through direct experience in community life. Learn while working, and work while continuing to learn,” he said.

In facing the digital era and advanced technology, graduates are also encouraged to master technology, including artificial intelligence (AI), robotics, and biotechnology, as well as the importance of mastering foreign languages such as Mandarin, Japanese, or Korean as provisions for competing globally. "The winners in the future are those who are able to utilize technology appropriately," he said, while reminding of potential challenges such as economic disparities, job losses due to automation, and misuse of technology that need to be anticipated, he concluded.

At this graduation, the graduates also had the opportunity to listen to a scientific oration delivered by the Head of the Food and Drug Supervisory Agency (BPOM) Prof. dr. Taruna Ikrar, M.Biomed, MD, PhD. In his oration, he emphasized the importance of healthy and quality human resources as the main capital towards the vision of Golden Indonesia 2045, namely "A sovereign, advanced, and sustainable Archipelago". Challenges such as stunting and non-communicable diseases (PTM) must be overcome, while great potential such as the demographic bonus, increasing human development index, and economic growth need to be maximized. Prof. Taruna also emphasized the vital role of drug and food supervision by BPOM through a technology-based approach, innovation, and collaboration with universities to accelerate the downstreaming of research results and build independence in the fields of drugs and food.

Prof. Taruna said that the younger generation, including graduates, have a strategic role in building a quality culture to accelerate the achievement of Indonesia Emas 2045. By integrating cutting-edge technology such as artificial intelligence (AI) in supervision and public services, BPOM encourages the creation of safe, quality, and globally competitive drug and food products. Through partnerships that have been established with 179 universities until May 2025, BPOM hopes that academic and industrial collaboration can produce innovations that support improving public health and the national economy.
