Marsudi Wahyu Kisworo, IPU., Dean of the Faculty of Psychology of Pancasila University, Prof. Dr. Awaluddin Tjalla, M.Pd., Dr. Apt. Sarah Zaidan, M.Farm (Head of the PPKS Task Force of Pancasila University), the entire academic community of the Faculty of Psychology of Pancasila University, and invited guests from partner universities of the Faculty of Psychology of Pancasila University.
In his speech, the Chancellor of Pancasila University said that “Character education is not just material that is taught, but must be a real example in everyday life. I observe that there are 10 mistakes in our education system, not only related to students, but also from the way the education system is designed. So far, our system has not effectively formed students and pupils with strong and good characters, due to the lack of role models given by those in the educational environment.” Prof. Marsudi added his statement that the Ministry of Education and Culture seemed to ignore the main teachings of Ki Hajar Dewantara by emphasizing the principle of Tut Wuri Handayani (supporting from behind). “The motto of the Ministry of Education and Culture should be Ing ngarso sung tulodho (In front, giving an example). The damage to the nation's character is caused by leaders, figures, and teachers who do not set good examples,” he said.
The Dean of FPsi-UP said that "This activity is a very important activity in terms of its theme, namely character building. This theme was chosen to find out the extent of the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research and Technology's policy in relation to preventing the problems of the 3 major sins of education that we usually hear are bullying, intolerance, and sexual violence."
The Ministry of Education, Culture, Research and Technology through PPUSPEKA, initiated the Character Building and Prevention of Violence in Higher Education program, where this program is in line with the government's vision to create superior human resources who are noble, creative, and prioritize Pancasila values. In an effort to prevent violence in the campus environment, the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research and Technology emphasizes three main focuses: preventing sexual violence, bullying, and intolerance.
Head of Puspeka, Rusprita Putri Utami, stated that strengthening student character is a strategic step in realizing the Pancasila Student Profile. "Through this coaching, we want to create students who are independent, critical, and behave according to the nation's noble values. This is a long-term investment for the future of Indonesia," she said. In addition, the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research and Technology hopes that this public lecture can create a higher education environment that is free from violence and discrimination, and produce a generation of students who are tough, have character, and are ready to face global challenges.
