The theme of the oration that will be delivered at his inauguration is "THE RELATIONSHIP OF DIGITAL LITERACY WITH THE PREVENTION OF "HOAX" CRIMES AND HATE SPEECH CRIMES (HATE SPEECH) IN THE POLITICAL YEAR 2024”

In his oration, Prof. Reda will discuss overcoming and preventing "Hoax" Crimes and Hate Speech Crimes (Hate Speech) in the 2024 Political Year, in order to facilitate the handling and prevention of these two crimes, Prof. Reda explained the factors behind hoax crimes and hate speech in the 2024 political year, including internal factors (low digital literacy) and external factors (economic factors and environmental factors).

Efforts to take action through criminal law are not enough to overcome crimes of hate speech and hoaxes in the political year 2024, therefore prevention efforts are needed by law enforcement and related agencies by increasing public knowledge to identify hoax news and hate speech on social media through digital literacy, effectively digital literacy in society will create a critical digital environment in responding to issues that lead to false news and hate speech.

The involvement of the community is the key to effective crime prevention, law enforcers can involve the community to prevent hoaxes and hate speech, Community participation in efforts to prevent hoax crimes and hate speech is the involvement of the community in identifying problems, solving problems and using informal social control which illustrates that community feelings occur so that consensus can emerge about what is desired and how to make it happen.

Crime is considered to be a consequence of the inability of communities to properly integrate their individual members and primary institutions. Participation does not grow by itself, in general participation describes a process of cooperation between two or more people, therefore if Indonesian society has good digital literacy then the prevention of hoax crimes and hate speech will be much reduced in the political year 2024.

There are two conclusions in his scientific oration, firstly digital literacy has an influence on efforts to prevent and overcome hoaxes and hate speech in the 2024 political year, digital literacy is one of the non-penal efforts in the context of overcoming hoax crimes and hate speech via digital, steps to take What can be done is by optimizing the role of the government through the Ministry of Communication and Information, the Police of the Republic of Indonesia and the Attorney General's Office of the Republic of Indonesia by involving digital community groups to promote increasing digital literacy among Indonesian society. Digital literacy places emphasis on individual critical abilities in using Digital media, in this case also including social media, is based on information processing and involves technological, cognitive and social competencies.

Second, the ratification of Law no. 1 2004 Second Amendment to Law Number I1 of 2008 concerning Electronic Information and Transactions reaffirms the government's obligation to prevent the dissemination and use of Electronic Information and/or Electronic Documents which contain prohibited content in accordance with the provisions of statutory regulations, as regulated in 40 paragraph (2).
