The event began with remarks from the Rector of Pancasila University, Prof. Dr. Ir. Marsudi Wahyu Kisworo, IPU. In his remarks, he expressed his highest appreciation to the Public Relations Division of the Indonesian National Police for organizing this event. The “Goes To Campus” event with the theme “Realizing a Healthy Young Generation Without Drugs” is a very meaningful real step in a joint effort to safeguard the future of the nation. This event is very important for the entire Academic Community of Pancasila University because it shows the great concern of the Indonesian National Police for the world of education and students. We all have a moral responsibility to ensure that the younger generation is free from the dangers of narcotics, which not only threaten their physical health but can also destroy their future and dreams.
Drugs are a serious threat that can damage the nation's order of life. As the next generation, students need to understand that drugs are not just a personal problem, but a shared problem whose impacts can extend to families, the environment, and even the country. We must not let the next generation of this nation be dragged into the darkness of drugs, because as we know, drugs can damage the nation's generation and become a disaster for the future if not handled properly.
On this occasion, I would like to give a message to all students of Pancasila University. Be a strong, intelligent, and responsible generation. Staying away from drugs is one of the most effective ways to keep yourself healthy, both physically and mentally. I encourage you all to actively participate in the anti-drug movement, both on campus and in the community. Don't let temptation or pressure from your surroundings cloud your judgment. Choose healthy relationships and build positive habits that will lead you to success. Said Prof. Marsudi.
In another speech, Head of the PID Bureau of the Indonesian National Police Public Relations Division, Brigadier General Tjahyono Saputro, said that we need to realize that drug abuse knows no age, status, or social background. This problem can ensnare anyone, including the younger generation who should be the spearhead of the nation's progress. Based on the latest data, cases of narcotics, psychotropics, and illegal drugs abuse in Indonesia have shown an increase, and most of the perpetrators are young people aged 15-24 years. This phenomenon is a big challenge for all of us to work together to overcome it.
Efforts to combat drugs are not only the responsibility of the Police or the government alone, but also the obligation of all elements of society, including educational institutions. Campus is an ideal place to instill awareness of the dangers of drugs, because this is where young people gain knowledge and form character. Through this activity, the Police hope to provide insight and education to students about the negative impacts of drug abuse and the importance of avoiding all forms of abuse of dangerous substances.
We at the Indonesian National Police remain committed to taking firm action against perpetrators of drug crimes, thoroughly investigating the networks involved, and carrying out ongoing prevention efforts. Throughout 2023, the Indonesian National Police have successfully handled thousands of drug cases and saved millions of lives from the dangers of narcotics. However, even though preventive measures and law enforcement have been carried out frequently, drug cases continue to increase. Therefore, it is important for us to always improve prevention efforts in a more effective and innovative way.
I would also like to emphasize the importance of the active role of students in combating drugs. Be a generation that dares to say “no” to drugs, and spread the anti-drug spirit in your environment. Never hesitate to report if you know of drug abuse around you. This step is part of our shared responsibility to maintain the security and health of the nation's next generation, concluded Brigadier General Pol. Tjahyono.
This activity is expected to have a positive impact in increasing student awareness about the dangers of drugs and the importance of prevention efforts to create a healthy and productive young generation.
